With the rising life cost nowadays, gardening seems to be the right option; it is fun, cost saving and also healthy. The activity can be turn into a family project that involves all family members. The harvest we get can be used as our diet and it is free. In addition, the vegetables we grow are free of pesticide, making them healthy diet.


If you want to start gardening, here are some tips that night be useful:

First is to decide the type of vegetables to plant. The important thing to consider is of course your preference. Choose vegetables that you really like. If you like the vegetables, you will enjoy the activity. Every vegetable needs different amount of sunlight. Some of them need 6 hours of constant sunlight per day and others needs up to 8 hours a day. To make use of your landscape, you can plant additional vegetables among the main crops. You can choose radish or lettuce since they grow fast while waiting vegetables that grow slower such as corn and beets. This way, there isn’t going to be any land left unused.

Next is the whether. During hot season, you have to be alert for dryness. During this time of year, vegetables need more water. A little extra water (not too much) will make them grow inch by inch. Once they are growing, be careful with pest and insect. You can use natural home-made pesticide to get rid of them. Avoid using chemical-based pesticide. After harvesting, put the waste from the vegetables in a bin. You can use it latter for making compost.

Protect your vegetable garden from rodent, rabbits, dogs, raccoons, and other animals that is wandering around looking for tasty snacks by setting up fences around it. You can also use the fence as support for plants that need to be supported such as peas, tomatoes, beans, cucumber, etc.

All those troubles and hard work you have been through will give you reward of happy feeling when harvesting time comes.
